Communication for Sustainable Development

We are registered non-governmental, organization in Enugu. We provide information to stimulate behaviour change in the populace. We work in the education, health, legislature, agriculture and governance. We have over 100 radio and TV programmes in these areas of focus.

ABOUT US

A-CODE understands Nigeria's needs for information. One of the major obstacles identified is gross apathy at all levels of our society. Apathy and ignorance are two ends of the same linked chain. They feed each other fat. To break the cycle, the system must be saturated with information. This is where our organisation finds the need to serve.

VISION: -

An egalitarian society where everyone has equal access to information, communication and technology irrespective of their geographical location, gender, and class.

MISSION STATEMENT: -
To facilitate provision of accessible ,evidence based and effective communication to both the urban and rural poor for increased and sustainable development through capacity building, trainings , advocacy , research strategic behaviour change communication that includes, interpersonal communication and counseling (IPC) & IPCC, community mobilization, Radio & Television Programming and Productions and ICT

LLIN CAMPAIGN

Prevention is better than cure, they say.

We have been providing media and community engagement interventions to liberate our people to from disease burden. We have produced more than 100 radio and TV programmes on preventable diseases.

Healthcare

Long Lasting Insecticidal net rollout in Enugu and Anambra States

A-CODE supported State governments in LLIN distribution in our rural communities. We mobilized 1500 households to adopt the use of insecticidal treated nets in Imo State of Nigeria, reducing malaria attack on mother and child by 65%.

Education

Setting up School Based Management Committees in support of primary education and ensuring exam ethics and standard.

In the past one year we established 141 SBMC in 3 local governments Enugu State contributing to the improvement of local primary education and increase enrolment into primary education and reducing dropout by 70%.

Legislation, election and good governance

A-CODE has joins both state and National coalitions to put pressure on the legislature both at the national and state levels to promote bills that affect the life of the citizens. We monitor elections as the Civil Society Situation Room to improve our democracy and ensure transparency in our elections.

We engage with both state and National assemblies on matters that are important to our constituents. We are produce radio and TV programmes on some of these issues to highlight the issues to put pressure on the legislature. we invited prominent international figures, through the Civil Society Situation Room to engage with the previous administration to ensure a smooth and peaceful transition.
